I decided to make a small blanket to go over one of the Lloyd Loom chairs in the pink room (when I have decorated it!)
A Striped Knitted Baby Blanket
To make it I used baby double knit wool in pink and white and size 5 knitting needles.
I am not a great knitter but it is a simple pattern.
Cast on 150 stitches
1st row - knit
2nd row - knit
3rd row - purl
repeat these 3 rows until you are happy with the size.
this gives a lovely ribbed chunky effect to the blanket.
I continued this until it was a size I was happy with then cast off.
To do the crochered trim I used a 4ply wool in deep pink and picked up each stitch with a single chain all around the blanket then I went around again with a double chain in each hole. Then I did the scalloped edge by crochering 6 double chains in 1st hole then miss a hole and then do a single chain in next hole and then miss a hole then do 6 double chains again then miss a hole then do a single chain in next hole, continue all around the blanket and cast off. I hope this makes sense as I am not a crochering expert either.
To make the white frill underneath I turned the blanket over and crochered a single stitch into each knitted stitch onto the reverse of the blanket edge. I then did 4 rows of a double crochet into each hole then I did the scalloped edge the same as the other side.
There is no particular pattern to the stripes, I just changed colour when it suited me.
I made the small roses by crochering a chain of 8 stitches into a circle and then used the scallop pattern, eg. I crochered 6 doubles into 1st hole then a single crochet stitch into next hole and repeated until I had 4 petals then I continued with more petals by picking up stitches and crochering into them. I left a long end of wool after casting off and used a darning needle to sew onto the blanket.

this blanket will be used as a throw over but could also be useful for a nursery.
